Heavy pondering over.... "high performance eFPGA #2",  Consider Xilinx says Inference of AI IS BEST DONE ON FPGAS....and none other than Facebook says it wants INFERENCE on the device....IF QUIK can articulate its IP to create what facebook wants in inference on the device.... the value of this IP is an order of magnitude more than the current valuation. Not a nice 50%, but an order of magnitude.

That is what the adjacent possible whispered into my ear with the closing," jfieb you better hold on to your part of this business, cause the adjacent possible is no longer a 5x8 broom closet, it's Facebook!

Some can sell their shares when they get above water, but I own part of this business to CHANGE my life NOT maintain what my family has known. ;-).

With eFPGA 2 Inference on the device ( Facebook has this vision ) is THE adjacent possible.  The Adjacent possible says so loud and clear.  This is really BIG and it is an order of magnitude.  A 5 x 8 broom closet can turn into Facebook, use that as a mental model of an order of magnitude.

Dr. Saxe you got this?

Yeah I know you saw it a while ago.  Thanks.

Samsung shifts focus to wearable healthcare devices

Samsung Electronics recently unveiled a major shift in corporate strategy. It was widely expected the South Korean tech giant would use the recent Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas to show off their robots. This did not happen, and now we know why.
According to a report from Business Korea, it seems the company sees more growth potential in the wearable health sector than in manufacturing robots, which rivals such as LG showcased at the event. Samsung believes that an aging society will help this market segment grow more quickly.
“The roles of home robots recently introduced by home appliance companies can be realized by adding artificial intelligence (AI) to existing devices such as smartphones, TVs and IoT refrigerators,” a senior representative of Samsung Electronics’s Home Electronics Division was quoted as saying.
“Rather, we believe that health care based on wearable appliances has more future growth potential.”
Headquartered in Korea, Samsung operates in over 75 countries. In the wearables market, the company offers consumers devices such as smartwatches and activity trackers, as well as their Tizen open-source operating system. Samsung wearable devices give users quick access to their mobile device and help users track their fitness.
At CES 2017, the company unveiled its collaboration with Under Armour to deliver new fitness tracking devices. Furthermore, the American sports apparel brand announced it will integrate four fitness apps into the Samsung Gear range including Gear Fit 2, Gear S2, and Gear S3.
“There are many inconveniences of living when people become older. I think the wearable device business is what we are interested in and can do well.” Yoon Boo-keun, head of the CE Division at Samsung Electronics echoed the sentiment.
Samsung may be on to something. Despite a rather subdued market in 2016 and a few casualties such as Pebble, growth of the fitness tracker and smartwatch segment is expected to continue in the years to come. IDC predicts that annual shipments will more than double by 2020 to 213.6 million units per year.

In addition, Globalfoundries acquired IBM IBM -0.36%’s semiconductor group and formed a joint venture with the Chongqing government to expand manufacturing into China

Something like this....but its good rather than bad.

eFPGA is being licensed by several Tier-1 customers for integration into their SoCs. The Sr Application Engineer (AE) will be responsible for supporting QuickLogic’s licensees during Technology porting, customer evaluations, and SoC integration.

It is very common among long term investors of this business to believe the following;

QUIK does not have anything of value because IF they did they would have been successful by now.

Use the above snip of text to let it start to sink in-QUIK's IP does have real and increasing value. And IF they run inference on the node?....Look out :-)

It used to be I could be criticized on this Adjacent Possible concept I use because QUIK is tiny and has finite resources; so don't talk about all this interesting stuff jfieb that QUIK cannot get to....get real.  Whats this got to do with QUIK anyway...

that criticism is no longer valid...QUIK does not have to do it themselves now..a Tier-1 can put the FPGA on their bench to make their vision of the IoT. :-)

Finally that slide from Needham...sort of blew me away, as I did not expect it...

PolarPro 2..High performance.  Starts at GF 22.  Gives me something to look forward to.  Is it for the edge?  something else?  I know running inference on the device...:-)

eFPGA will start with small, low cost, low power..........but Brian and crew have a vision of much more than that.  He said it will take a while, but that they will get there.

THAT IS WHY I ADDED THE PIC OF THE RICE TERRACES TO THE BLOG.  For me it was the best way to remember the heterogenious computing;  tiers of intelligence and processing and in the roadmap QUIK sees more tiers...........

Hi RC, hang in there,  lets do Bfast  SAT after the Feb cc?  BH 8am?  jfieb C U THEN.
just for fun....

Organised by the GSMA, Mobile World Congress Shanghai (#MWCS16) attracts thousands of mobile industry leaders and consumers from around the world – making MWC Shanghai a truly unique and global event.

MediaTek will be speaking on ‘IoT as an integral part of everyday life with MediaTek’ and will also have a booth featuring products built using MediaTek technology.

For nearly two decades, our chipsets have formed the foundation for the Internet of Things (IoT). In 2015 alone, we enabled more than 1 billion consumer electronic products, including digital TVs, home audio devices, DVD/Blu-ray players, smartphones and tablets, networking and connectivity products, and many more. Year after year, we have focused on making our chipsets for these products more highly integrated, more connected and more power-efficient.
As chipsets get ever smaller and more power efficient, the devices they enable will allow people to manage and control their environments in new ways. We are on the forefront of leveraging our unique heritage to enable this IoT wave. We're creating platforms for location intelligence, smart connected health and fitness wearables, smart home devices and M2M products, with more to come.

There’s some signs that that situation might be changing. Recent rumors from DigiTimes’ ubiquitous “sources” imply that TSMC is losing some customer volume to GlobalFoundries. AllWinner, MediaTek, and Qualcomm have all reportedly cut 28nm orders at TSMC due to superior pricing from the firm’s rival. GlobalFoundries had nothing to say on the accuracy of such rumors,
