In a two-day developer conference which began Monday, the company showcased a series of technological and robotic prototypes for use in daily life. They include the wearable device AKI that can track the locations of users' children in real-time. The nation's top portal operator highlighted that the smart device, set to be commercialized next January, comes with its global positioning system and location-understanding technologies. This comes a year after Naver unveiled its AI speaker, Wave. Google also launched its AI speaker, Google Home, and a string of AI-powered smart hardware — such as Pixel smartphones equipped with the voice Google Assistant. The software is compatible with major Android smartphones. "Naver has been developing robots that are practical and helpful to people's living space under the goal of creating robots that will take part in human life," Naver chief technology officer Song Chang-hyun said in a speech during the DEVIEW annual conference. "Crucial research areas for robots are mobility that enables hardware to freely move in the living space and with AI that understands regular patterns of daily life. The nation's top portal operator said Monday that it will invest 100 billion won ($84.7 million) in developing robots and establishing smart home-based ecosystems. Given that the company has focused solely on software since it was founded in 1999, the move reflects its drive to meet growing demand for Internet of Things (IoT) related products. "We will push for research and development (R&D) in the hardware sector including mobility, robotics and smart homes," said Naver chief technology officer Song Chang-hyun, during the company's annual developer conference "DEVIEW 2015" at the COEX, southern Seoul. Naver has been holding the nation's largest information and technology centered conference annually since 2008. More than 2,000 developers from home and abroad participated in the two-day event. "By teaming up with conglomerates and small and medium-sized companies, we will conduct joint research to lead the technological revolution in the global market," he said. Users touched home screen buttons less frequently than smart phones, and they were less likely to use applications with the device," he said. The ecosystem in place is serious industrial IoT- they can take what they learn and go to eFPGA IP, but Facebook is on record in the archives of this forum with not only their Babbage sort of crazy indulgences ( thought reading) but they want inference on the mobile device and QUIK mentioned in the call of a consumer company interested in the FPGA of the Eos just for AI on consumer devices..... As a result, we’ve recently turned what was initiated as an ecosystem partnership into a new wearable design win where our EOS S3 is used as an always-on sensor processor. I recently met with the CEO from the products group of this company to discuss this new designand his outlook for the future. A key takeaway from our conversation is that our heterogeneous multi-core architecture and eFPGA in the EOS S3 Sensor Processing Platform is the right architecture to enable the more immersive experiences the wearable market needs We have numerous ongoing engagements with app companies, and believe this strategy has very significant potential to drive new design wins. Use Naver as the mental model. We are on a bench there and they are an R & D lab, like Amazons lab 126. These are the crucibles of creativity where the echo was created and where the next echo will come from also. Not a flash in the pan. Will these places want to use the FPGA for AI too? Yes!
