Will quit with this repost

In parallel with the ongoing efforts to bring its first EOS S3 design to production, this customer has recently made wearables and hearables a long-term strategy, and with that, a strategic commitment to include always-on voice capability in future designs. We are working closely with this customer on two new high-volume consumer wearable and hearable opportunities that are targeted for mass production during mid-2018.

Samsung to focus on promoting Gear Sport smartwatches
Max Wang, Seoul; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Friday 13 October 2017]
Samsung Electronics has adjusted its strategy for wearable devices to focus on promoting its newly released Gear Sport smartwatch and wireless earphone Gear IconX 2018 products, while slowing down a further development of its Classic-series devices, according to sources at the Korea-based electronics giant.

The Gear Sport comes with multi-sensors for fitness tracking, heart-rate monitor, GPS functionality and 5ATM water and depth pressure resistance.

Samsung has also teamed up with Speedo and Under Armour (UA) to enrich its apps for the Gear Sport. The smartwatch also come with support of Samsung Pay, Samsung Connect, and Samsung Health to differentiate with rival products, according to the company.

Meanwhile, Samsung plans to develop a mobile platform to enable connection with all of its mobile devices so as to build up an IoT-based ecosystem for its wearable devices.

Notice they didn't name it Iconx 2017,  It will sound current all through 2018!

Samsung’s two latest wearable devices, the Gear Sport smartwatch and the 2018 edition of its Gear IconX earbudsfinally have prices and launch dates for the US.

The Gear IconX 2018 earbuds can be bought on Friday just on Samsung.com but will go on sale October 27 from Amazon, BestBuy.com, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular.

IFA- almost 2 months go they showed the device, but. Aug 30.....

Samsung's flagship smartwatch Gear Sport had made its global debut along with Fit2 Pro and IconX 2018 at the prestigious IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) event in August, but the company had not disclosed the specific time-frame of their release.

SO Sammy had NOT decided at the time of IFA WHEN it would ship....

.

So the Gear Fit pro came to market very soon after IFA but they did NOT disclose a ship date for the IconX till a wk ago. Ship date 2 mo AFTER IFA.

BF said watch once during a cc. Consider he could NOT say hearable could he?

:)

Significant devices for Samsung have a buzz process that uses incremental leaks of info. Zippo there.

They DONT need a 5th device for the wrist?

The tier 1 wearable is hiding in plain sight.

Will look for teardown of the IconX # 2. available Oct 27.

  1. Samsung is bringing new Icon X earbuds and a Gear VR headset to IFA
Samsung's wearable tech game looks strong for fall

Samsung has a big conference at IFA 2017 in Berlin next Wednesday 30 August and now we pretty know everything we're expecting to see.

As well as the Samsung Gear Sport watch and Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro tracker - both of which leaked ages ago - we now have a leaked image with new IconX smart earbuds and yet another Gear VR headset and controller to complete the wearable tech line up.

We have very little details about these two new devices. The IconX - which doesn't have a '2' after it - is pictured with a model number, in three colours - black, grey and bright pink and in a charging case.

The design looks very similar to the first edition of Samsung's smart sports hearable and we don't know what to expect in terms of extra features on top of the music, fitness and heart rate tracking of the original. In our review, we definitely found room for improvement, specifically around battery life and sound quality.

The Gear VR is a more obvious case of releasing a new model to accommodate the new Samsung Note 8 smartphone which was just launched in New York this week.

Again, it looks identical to previous Gear VRs, which have been getting new models - finishes - for each new flagship phone launch. The new Samsung headset will work with the handheld controller accessory.

The Gear VR is a great product so we can see why Samsung doesn't want to tinker with it too much to be fair. Stay tuned for hands ons of all the new Samsung kit next week.

    What is to be gleaned?

    You can start to get a feel for what it means to be a tier 1. To have such a complete line of devices;

Iconx will add listening maybe on the next one and we will be interested in that one.
As we go forward it will be fun to see the color at the cc around the Tier 1 AFTER the shipping starts....

Samsung’s new earbuds track fitness data: Biometrics whiz explains hearables

    UPDATED 14:00 EST . 20 JULY 2016

Is the ear a more accurate body part than the wrist for collecting biometric fitness data? Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is exploring the possibilities, signing a major deal with Valencell, Inc. to power its Samsung Gear IconX cord-free fitness earbuds, announced today.

RALEIGH, N.C., July 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Valencell, the leading innovator in the wearable and hearable biometric sensor field, today announced a non-exclusive patent license agreement with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Under this patent license agreement, Valencell has licensed hearable patents owned by Valencell to Samsung for use in its hearable devices.

"Valencell is continuing to invent the future in biometric sensor technology and market leaders like Samsung Electronics recognize the value of Valencell's foundational inventions in hearables," said Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, President and Co-founder of Valencell. "We're pleased to work with Samsung Electronics to provide a patent license for our inventions that are critical for accurate heart rate monitoring in hearables."

Valencell has a highly cited patent portfolio in optical biometric sensor technology in the wearables and hearables industry, which includes 35 patents granted and more than 70 additional patents pending.

Valencell licenses its biometric sensor technology through product licensing or patent licensing, depending on the customer and product requirements. While product licensing provides access to Valencell's patent-protected technology products, patent licensing provides access to Valencell's inventions without access to Valencell's technology products and support.

Valencell's PerformTek® sensor systems provide accurate, robust and flexible technology, powering more biometric hearables and wearables on the market than any other company. The technology gives hearable devices the ability to continuously and accurately measure blood flow signals even during extreme physical activity or when the optical signals are weak. These signals can be translated into biometric data, including continuous heart rate, VO2 and VO2 max, resting heart rate, heart rate response, heart rate recovery, continuous energy expenditure (calorie burn), cardiac efficiency and heart rate variability assessments.

The accuracy of Valencell's PerformTek technology has been independently validated by numerous research institutions, including Duke University, NC State University, and the American College of Sports Medicine.

The Eos can run Valencells algos, Sensorys algos too. Nice.

It helps to try thoughts out to see how they feel.

I bring this folder up for the material Bob put up tday.... there was nothing else on the market that could fulfill the mission.....

That sounded like the ear to me.

Samsung has the wrist covered. No need for another for the wrist.

Though IconX was introduced at IFA along side GF pro, it is not on shelves, it will come up for ore order l8er this month.

The first device had heart rate n acceleromter.....

So our tier 1 wearable is not for the wrist.
It is where we are ramping up with other
    Customers?

could it be that our tier 1 wearable is hiding in plain sight?

    IconX.....

    Will track along.
    It has sensors
Battery life n these things sucks....

So tell me what is wrong here?

It becomes available Oct 27? Along with the sport....

    It's fitness in orientation

Note the jump in battery life here

The second generation of these fitness-orientated, truly wireless earbuds have a built-in music player, seven hours of battery and voice control.
With truly wireless buds (earphones without any cables) building up just as much of a head of steam as smart speakers in the last year, Samsung is already on round two of its Gear IconX (which can be pre-ordered from today).

The new version supports Samsung’s personal voice assistant Bixby, meaning users can control music or phone by tapping and holding the earbud and saying a command.

An improved battery also offers a claimed five hours (up from 3.5 hours) of music streaming through the buds’ built-in music player (which has 4GB of storage), or seven hours of standalone music playback – more than is offered by the rival Onkyo W800BT or Google Pixel Buds, albeit not as generous as the nine hours delivered by our favourite truly wireless pair, Sony's WF-1000X.

The updated design comes in black, grey or pink - and, according to Samsung, is even more ergonomic and lightweight. Great news for fitness fanatics.

Speaking of which, the new Gear IconX automatically tracks your running routines, and features a Running Coach function which can be activated to provide real-time exercise status updates.

    It has voice control-bixby....
