In-Location Alliance Formalizes Activities As a New IEEE-ISTO Member Program
Piscataway, NJ 10 December 2013 – The IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO), a federation of leading industry groups and consortia dedicated to the advancement of standardized technologies for the benefit of industry, today announces In-Location Alliance as its newest member program.

“IEEE-ISTO recognizes the significant value to industry and consumers alike that the Alliance members are forging,” said Marco W. Migliaro, president and CEO, IEEE-ISTO. “We welcome the opportunity to partner with In-Location Alliance.”

Established in August 2012, In-Location Alliance has been driving global indoor positioning solutions and services and pioneering new use cases and business models for this technology. The alliance promotes indoor positioning solutions that offer high-accuracy, low-power consumption, mobility, and usability for consumers and enterprises alike. Its work includes facilitation for pre-commercial pilot programs, business and use case verification, system architecture, and industry collaboration.

Since inception, industry traction for In-Location Alliance’s technology has resulted in 95 corporate members for the organization, necessitating the need to formalize its operations within an established infrastructure to accommodate its continued growth. In-Location Alliance signed with IEEE-ISTO to provide the operational framework within which the Alliance can grow and advance.

“I believe collaboration with IEEE-ISTO will make In-Location Alliance a more visible and efficient industry collaboration platform to promote and accelerate the deployment of indoor positioning solutions, products, and services,” explains Jouni Kämäräinen, In-Location Alliance chair. “We found IEEE-ISTO to be the best means to formalize our operations and provide expert support while enabling alliance members to continue to pioneer new business streams for indoor environments.”
