JOB DESCRIPTION

The System Power Management Technical is a key member of the Engineering team, reporting to the Director of HW Engineering.   This is a lead technical contributor role within the company with primary responsibility to scope and own the system power management aspects of our mobile developments (mainly sensor hubs for smartphone and wearable applications). The candidate will work closely with a team of platform architects, SoC designers, hardware, software engineers and product engineers. Strong technical knowledge and presence, with the ability to interact with multiple groups and individuals with varied skill sets and experience is required for success in this position.

Key result areas for this position are: 

  • Deliver the SensorHub system with the lowest possible platform level power consumption.
  • Work with platform architect to define power consumption targets for key use cases. Derive power contribution from various elements (sensor hub chip, MEMS sensors, SW and Algo).
  • Lead the effort to develop a reliable and automated Low Power measurement methodology to support device in manufacturing.
  • Support HW and SW engineering during power management optimization stage.
  • Generate and update Power Data for competitor analysis to help supporting SensorHub success with key customers.

Key Activities/Tasks for these positions are:

  • Perform tasks to estimate system/device power budget.
  • Develop methodology for performing power calculation for ASIC/Programmable Fabric.
  • Work with IC development team to track and maintain device power consumption during device development.
  • Provide system power profile (HW/SW) to help optimizing and improving the system power performance.
  • Perform system power measurement and analyze data for competitive edge.
  • Participate and work board design engineer to achieve low power consumption for SensorHub products.
  • Help to review customer ULPSH schematic and provide guidance to insure customer design is optimized for power consumption.
  • Execute Device Power measurement during silicon validation.
  • Work with PE team to support and improve power measurements during manufacturing test.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide critical feedback on architecture definition for existing and future designs.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • MSEE with 7 years of direct experience in working with Lower Power system design
  • Experience in profiling system power between hardware and software
  • Experience with board design
  • Experience IC validation and testing methodology
  • Experience with performing analysis between speed performance and power consumption
  • Has hands on experience with power estimation and system power budgeting
  • Direct experience with Low Power measurement and instruments
  • Experience in RTL design
  • Comfortable with FW code update and profiling (C/C++)
  • Experience of silicon bring up and debug is a must
  • Understand system inrush current
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written and verbal form
  • Prior experience working with multi-site, multi-cultural teams
