MEMS executive congress in Nov.

MEMS in Healthcare Panel Discussion
Moderated by Mark Winter, CEO, CareSpan
MEMS is one of the most potent forces that is changing the healthcare landscape today. Hundreds, and soon, thousands of micro devices will enter the market with the promise of improving our health and wellbeing through sophisticated monitoring and diagnostic functions that are with us all the time. We will see MEMS in watches, shoes and clothing; in the home environment and our car..even embedded in our bodies. This transformation is inevitable but it will not be easy… and the market will be littered many losers and winners. This panel will discuss how MEMS plays a key role in the much larger healthcare ecosystem. We will explore how these new MEMS devices are financed and launched, what role the FDA will play, and how healthcare providers will engage with patients through these technologies. The panel will also discuss the crucial role that wireless/mobile technologies will serve in providing the secure data framework needed to connect patients, healthcare providers and third-party companies to enable a revolution in personal health and care. Tentative Panel Line-up (at least three of these are for sure):
Stephen Whalley – Chief Strategy Officer at MEMS Industry Group – Former Director of Sensors at Intel
• Mark Winter – CEO of CareSpan Inc. – Delivery platform for next generation primary care services using MEMS technologies – Former Prize Lead for Life Sciences at XPRIZE
• Anna Barker – Co-Director, Complex Adaptive Systems & Director, National Biomarker Development Alliance, Arizona State University
• Kathy Mackey – Principal, Ascent Synergy Solutions
• Dr. Anita Goel, MD, PhD – Chairman and CEO, Nanobiosym; Physicist, Harvard-MIT MD-PH
