Besides being our faithful communication tool, gaming device, fitness tracker and camera, the smartphone is taking on a much larger and globally important role by becoming the omnipresent command center for the Internet of Things (IoT). This session will explore the variety of smart devices--thermostats, locks, lightbulbs, security systems, cameras, appliances--being linked with the internet through associated smartphone controller apps. And how data gathered from these devices can be combined with location-aware sensors embedded in smartphones to create a web of intelligent, personalized, proactive behaviors that will add tremendous value and convenience to many aspects of our daily lives.
